Choffin Career & Technical Center Closed: Friday October 30, 2009

Choffin Career & Technical Center will be cancelled again Friday. Those include Rayen Early College, OPTION Program and adult evening classes.

The school has been closed since around 8:30AM on October 28th due to a small electrical problem.

Students were immediately evacuated in an orderly fashion. Director Joe Meranto says, “Most students thought the evacuation was a normal drill. I am proud of the teachers and students for their prompt response.” Upon evacuation the high school students were transported back to their perspective home high school. The Rayen Early College students were taken to the Board of Education. The Headstart preschool students were taken to the Headstart on McCartney Rd. All adult classes were cancelled. Meranto further states, “the Youngstown City School District was quick to respond and come up with a suitable plan that meets the needs of all Choffin students.”
